EEN OMLIJNDE DANSGEVIERING
FRIDAY 25 NOVEMBER - 20.00 / 22.00
25-11 till 31-12
The installation of Hilke Walraven - een omlijnde dansgeviering - (a defined dancelebration) - is a tribute to toekijkfeesten (strictly-only-watch-party's), a unique phenomenon without precedent. A celebration as a deviation from expectations without a clear reason. The knowledge of how things normally function, that everything has it purpose is being questioned in this exhibition. The nonsense is celebrated and therefore important.
Jury report Jan Zumbrink Price - Hilke Walraven
'this artist creates a world of its own, she examines the neighbors with a magnifying glass and reduces the hurry of everyone. The work is associative and functions as a meeting place and a laboratory, controlled with self-made artefacts. Creating a social space, in which she tries to stay close to the core of her artistic thinking by inviting friends and colleagues for tea and therefore keeping the visual arts grand and pure.'
Hilke Walraven (1994) holds a BA in Fine Arts (2016) from HKU School of the Arts in Utrecht and lives in Amsterdam. Her graduation project won the Jan Zumbrink price. She was selected for One Light Stand an initiative of the Centraal Museum Utrecht and the Wall Wall Wall Floor Ceiling Wall a groupshow in P/////AKT in Amsterdam.
